Condor Golf began in 1972 as strictly a golf instructional business. As golf instruction continued to grow, we realized that most golfers used equipment that was not suited to their physical stature or needs. Not all golfers are 5'10" tall, nor can all golfers use stiff shafts in their clubs, so I expanded into custom clubs, club repair and general golf sales. In the mid 1970's, golf clubs were sold in golf course pro shops by the head golf professional who charged full retail prices. Then the large sporting goods stores began selling top pro line clubs at discount prices. The problem with this concept was that the sales staff knew nothing about selling golf clubs and their only interest was to sell something (to make money) even though the customer may have needed a totally different type of club. Over the years this attitude has not changed (only the cost has risen) and sadly, the sales personnel at these "mega stores" still lack training in proper club fitting. At Condor Golf, we take the time to put the best club for the least amount of money into the hands of our customers.
Now, golfers can also buy clubs on internet auction sites such as Ebay and they end up buying clubs that look nice, but are totally wrong for their game.
I enjoy working with all levels of golfers, but my main focus is on beginning players and players who aspire to move to the next levels of golfing success. Our goal is to provide the best quality products (custom clubs or name brand clubs), best prices and excellent customer service.
Gary Johnson, owner of Condor Golf, has been a golf professional since 1972 and a professional clubmaker since 1975. So much has changed in the golf business over the past 33 years...metal clubs instead of wood clubs, better graphite shafts, multi-material club heads, innovative grips and better methods of fitting golf clubs for EVERY golfer from beginner to experienced player. The past 30+ years have been a gratifying experience as well as a worthwhile journey.
